Here are some ways I’ve found convenient and easygoing for learning, or enhancing your understanding of that second or third language you are trying to speak.

I don’t get anything in return for suggesting these sources. I found these sources very good and well organized, and have helped me in learning Portuguese, however, there might be other sources that better fit your specific needs.

The references mentioned in this post are specific to Brazilian Portuguese.

Listening to podcasts that teach the language:

BrazilianPodClass – a free podcast for those who want to learn Brazilian Portuguese.

iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/learn-portuguese-brazilianpodclass/id261185732

web: http://www.brazilianpodclass.com/blog/about/

Ta Falado – podcasts designed to help those who are learning Portuguese, especially if you have a previous background in Spanish.

Listening to music and simultaneously reading the corresponding song lyrics:

Águas de Março

I’m pointing you to that web page as an example but, your iPod or iPhone are extraordinary media players for this specific way of learning a language; you can load the song and its lyrics into your iPod and display lyrics on screen while listening to the song.

Listening to live Radio broadcasts in that language about a topic you like:

Download the free or paid version of this live world radio app to your iPod or iPhone. After installing the app, run it and browse by country or language to find a station you like, and then tap play to listen to live native speakers.

TuneIn Radio http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tunein-radio/id418987775?mt=8

TuneIn Radio Pro http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tunein-radio-pro/id319295332?mt=8

For example, CBN a radio que toca noticia is a good news radio broadcast in Rio de Janeiro.
